Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which rose 3.14% or 0.0301 points to trade at 0.9880 at the close. NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) added 3.06% or 21.50 points to end at 723.00 and FSK EES (MCX:FEES) was up 2.69% or 0.0050 points to 0.1888 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p), which lost 2.95% or 38.0 points to trade at 1252.0 in late trade. Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) declined 1.43% or 12.00 points to end at 827.00 and MMK (MCX:MAGN) shed 1.24% or 0.460 points to 36.630.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 111 to 101 and 24 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.09% to 23.160.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.35% or 4.35 to $1258.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.65% or 0.83 to hit $51.07 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.94% or 1.03 to trade at $54.15 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.20% to 56.1950, while EUR/RUB fell 0.16% to 59.925.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 100.48.
