Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which rose 3.02% or 0.0037 points to trade at 0.1270 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) added 2.04% or 1.460 points to end at 72.960 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was up 1.80% or 11.90 points to 671.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY), which lost 3.33% or 10.60 points to trade at 308.00 in late trade. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 2.66% or 0.715 points to end at 26.195 and Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) shed 2.16% or 15.5 points to 702.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 110 to 108 and 21 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.97% to 32.550 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.76% or 9.20 to $1207.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.59% or 0.29 to hit $49.62 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.36 to trade at $50.31 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.60% to 65.7183, while EUR/RUB fell 0.10% to 73.207.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 95.72.
