Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which rose 4.12% or 55.00 points to trade at 1,378.00 at the close. Mobil’nye Telesistemy PAO (MCX:MTSS) added 3.91% or 8.95 points to end at 237.95 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) was up 3.03% or 1.50 points to 50.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which unchanged 1.52% or 0.00 points to trade at 0.10 in late trade. OK Rusal MKPAO (MCX:RUAL) declined 1.04% or 0.40 points to end at 38.20 and Globaltrans Investment Gdr (MCX:GLTRDR) shed 0.89% or 5.15 points to 571.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 199 to 44 and 9 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 0.74% to 27.00.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 2.18% or 53.60 to $2,402.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.32% or 2.70 to hit $78.60 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.96% or 2.52 to trade at $82.59 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.78% to 87.70, while EUR/RUB fell 0.92% to 95.44.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 104.07.
