Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 1.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 24.39% or 0.0300 points to trade at 0.1530 at the close. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) added 1.49% or 0.1010 points to end at 6.8650 and REN (LS:RENE) was up 0.98% or 0.0250 points to 2.5800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC), which lost 3.72% or 0.0200 points to trade at 0.5170 in late trade. Sonae (LS:YSO) declined 3.30% or 0.0220 points to end at 0.6440 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) shed 3.02% or 0.0450 points to 1.4440.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 36 to 11 and 3 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was up 0.77% or 0.37 to $48.33 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.09% or 0.51 to hit $47.11 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.62% or 8.45 to trade at $1367.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1089, while EUR/GBP rose 0.74% to 0.8567.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 96.21.
