Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 1.13% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Galp Energia Nom (LISBON:GALP), which rose 2.42% or 0.2450 points to trade at 10.3600 at the close. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LISBON:CTT) added 1.17% or 0.1080 points to end at 9.3110 and REN (LISBON:RENE) was down 0.47% or 0.0130 points to 2.7470 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altri SGPS (LISBON:ALSS), which lost 4.13% or 0.1540 points to trade at 3.5790 in late trade. Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA) declined 3.62% or 0.0100 points to end at 0.2660 and Portucel (LISBON:PTI) shed 3.54% or 0.1290 points to 3.5140.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 57 to 9 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for October delivery was up 0.64% or 0.32 to $50.03 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.14% or 0.06 to hit $43.14 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.45% or 16.10 to trade at $1123.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.30% to 1.1185, while EUR/GBP rose 0.82% to 0.7151.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.12% at 96.14.
