Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT), which rose 1.68% or 0.1010 points to trade at 6.1300 at the close. Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) added 1.07% or 0.0130 points to end at 1.2260 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) was up 0.38% or 0.0600 points to 15.7300 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Semapa (LS:SEM), which lost 1.71% or 0.2000 points to trade at 11.5200 in late trade. Sonae (LS:YSO) declined 1.52% or 0.0110 points to end at 0.7140 and Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA) shed 1.45% or 0.133 points to 9.012.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 29 to 14 and 6 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for January delivery was down 1.58% or 0.77 to $47.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.24% or 0.58 to hit $46.28 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.32% or 16.75 to trade at $1289.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.72% to 1.1059, while EUR/GBP rose 0.84% to 0.9039.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.59% at 97.74.
