Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT), which rose 2.88% or 0.3775 points to trade at 13.4975 at the close. Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF) added 1.64% or 0.0001 points to end at 0.0061 and Sonae (LISBON:YSO) was up 1.61% or 0.0200 points to 1.2630 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EDP (LISBON:EDP), which lost 4.42% or 0.1550 points to trade at 3.3490 in late trade. Portucel (LISBON:PTI) declined 2.63% or 0.0940 points to end at 3.4820 and Mota Engil (LISBON:MOTA) shed 2.56% or 0.0640 points to 2.4350.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 38 to 27 and 5 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was down 1.15% or 0.61 to $52.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.88% or 0.91 to hit $47.61 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.62% or 6.70 to trade at $1095.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.84% to 1.1024, while EUR/GBP rose 0.65% to 0.7054.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.59% at 97.03.
