Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.97%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LISBON:BCP), which rose 3.25% or 0.0028 points to trade at 0.0890 at the close. Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF) added 2.94% or 0.0002 points to end at 0.0070 and Sonae (LISBON:YSO) was up 2.57% or 0.0305 points to 1.2155 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mota Engil (LISBON:MOTA), which lost 2.01% or 0.0530 points to trade at 2.5870 in late trade. Portugal Telecom (LISBON:PTC) declined 1.78% or 0.0090 points to end at 0.4960 and Teixeira Duarte (LISBON:TDSA) shed 1.14% or 0.0070 points to 0.6070.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 41 to 28 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for July delivery was down 2.15% or 1.41 to $64.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.14% or 1.31 to hit $59.95 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.00% or 11.90 to trade at $1182.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.96% to 1.1260, while EUR/GBP rose 1.04% to 0.7342.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.59% at 95.43.
