Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF), which rose 5.08% or 0.0003 points to trade at 0.0062 at the close. Portucel (LISBON:PTI) added 2.44% or 0.0875 points to end at 3.6675 and Altri SGPS (LISBON:ALSS) was up 2.34% or 0.0900 points to 3.9350 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA), which lost 1.97% or 0.0065 points to trade at 0.3235 in late trade. Nos SGPS SA (LISBON:NOS) declined 1.24% or 0.0970 points to end at 7.6990 and Mota Engil (LISBON:MOTA) shed 0.36% or 0.0085 points to 2.3675.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 43 to 20 and 1 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was down 1.39% or 0.69 to $49.30 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.44% or 0.66 to hit $45.08 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.50% or 5.50 to trade at $1085.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.0875, while EUR/GBP fell 0.31% to 0.6970.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 98.17.
