Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP), which rose 4.00% or 0.4800 points to trade at 12.4800 at the close. EDP (LS:EDP) added 2.38% or 0.0630 points to end at 2.7100 and EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) was up 1.25% or 0.0740 points to 6.0090 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT), which lost 5.26% or 0.3240 points to trade at 5.8400 in late trade. Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) declined 4.15% or 0.0080 points to end at 0.1850 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) shed 2.09% or 0.0360 points to 1.6840.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 24 to 23 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for January delivery was up 0.43% or 0.20 to $46.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.44% or 0.20 to hit $45.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.06% or 0.75 to trade at $1223.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.48% to 1.0640, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.8548.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.40% at 100.78.
