Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Utilities and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Montepio (LS:MPIO), which rose 5.11% or 0.021 points to trade at 0.432 at the close. Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) added 3.25% or 0.0053 points to end at 0.1683 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) was up 1.31% or 0.0100 points to 0.7740 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which lost 2.05% or 0.0080 points to trade at 0.3820 in late trade. Novabase SGPS (LS:NBA) declined 1.97% or 0.060 points to end at 2.990 and Sonae (LS:YSO) shed 1.14% or 0.0100 points to 0.8710.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 21 to 14 and 1 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for May delivery was down 1.36% or 0.70 to $50.92 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.51% or 0.74 to hit $48.17 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.95% or 11.75 to trade at $1245.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.68% to 1.0812, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.8659.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.65% at 99.51.
