Investing.com – Peru equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining, S&P Lima Juniors and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lima, the S&P Lima General fell 0.26% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P Lima General were Cerro Verde (LM:CVE), which rose 2.33% or 0.500 points to trade at 22.000 at the close. Grana Y Monter (LM:GRA) added 2.33% or 0.100 points to end at 4.400 and Volcan Minera (LM:VOL_pb) was up 1.61% or 0.010 points to 0.620 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Minera Irl (LM:IRL), which lost 8.54% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.07 in late trade. Sociedad Minera el Brocal SAA (LM:BRO) declined 6.29% or 0.450 points to end at 6.700 and Atacocha (LM:ATB) shed 2.16% or 0.004 points to 0.185.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 12 to 12 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lima Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.02% or 0.01 to $52.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 2.63% or 1.50 to hit $58.55 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.30% or 3.50 to trade at $1160.00 a troy ounce.
USD/PEN was down 0.66% to 3.1660, while EUR/PEN rose 0.24% to 3.5181.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.30% at 96.67.
