Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 2.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN), which rose 0.56% or 0.10 points to trade at 17.65 at the close. Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) added 0.00% or 0.01 points to end at 900.01 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 9.01 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which lost 8.96% or 0.060 points to trade at 0.610 in late trade. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) declined 8.20% or 0.100 points to end at 1.120 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) shed 7.89% or 0.060 points to 0.700.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 64 to 23 and 24 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.63% or 0.27 to $42.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.03% or 0.46 to hit $45.28 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.46% or 5.79 to trade at $1251.59 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.36% to 351.990, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 325.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 97.27.
