Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT), which rose 0.04% or 0.01 points to trade at 24.72 at the close. Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 6.72 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 17.09 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which lost 4.96% or 3.24 points to trade at 62.12 in late trade. Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) declined 4.76% or 0.70 points to end at 14.00 and Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) shed 4.43% or 0.140 points to 3.020.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 19 to 8 and 55 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.13% or 0.07 to $53.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $56.47 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.57% or 7.15 to trade at $1246.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.97% to 331.390, while USD/NGN fell 0.86% to 315.250.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 101.55.
