Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 1.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB), which rose 2.06% or 2.99 points to trade at 147.12 at the close. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) added 1.23% or 0.29 points to end at 23.60 and Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) was up 1.00% or 0.52 points to 52.52 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 9.60% or 0.310 points to trade at 2.920 in late trade. Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) declined 9.52% or 0.340 points to end at 3.230 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) shed 9.03% or 0.140 points to 1.410.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 60 to 16 and 17 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.60% or 0.39 to $64.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.09% or 0.06 to hit $69.90 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 1.18% or 15.80 to trade at $1352.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.85% to 444.870, while USD/NGN rose 0.14% to 360.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.86% at 89.11.
