Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which rose 3.70% or 8.20 points to trade at 230.00 at the close. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) added 2.47% or 0.020 points to end at 0.800 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) was up 0.54% or 0.15 points to 27.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which lost 4.81% or 5.00 points to trade at 99.00 in late trade. Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) declined 4.49% or 2.35 points to end at 50.00 and Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) shed 4.05% or 0.65 points to 15.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 59 to 35 and 10 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.25% or 0.18 to $71.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.37% or 0.29 to hit $79.57 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.12% or 1.50 to trade at $1290.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.01% to 424.540, while USD/NGN fell 0.14% to 360.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 93.31.
