Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Banking and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB), which rose 3.37% or 0.49 points to trade at 15.04 at the close. Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) added 3.13% or 25.00 points to end at 825.00 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was up 2.36% or 0.15 points to 6.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which lost 4.80% or 3.83 points to trade at 76.00 in late trade. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) declined 3.33% or 0.040 points to end at 1.160 and Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) shed 3.23% or 0.100 points to 3.000.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 21 to 13 and 49 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.23% or 0.63 to $50.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.49% or 0.79 to hit $52.35 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.27% or 3.35 to trade at $1257.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.77% to 354.790, while USD/NGN fell 3.29% to 305.000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.80% at 97.69.
