Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 1.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR), which rose 4.73% or 0.30 points to trade at 6.60 at the close. Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) added 4.00% or 2.08 points to end at 56.00 and Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) was up 2.00% or 0.010 points to 0.510 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which lost 2.81% or 0.68 points to trade at 23.02 in late trade. Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) declined 0.41% or 0.18 points to end at 45.00 and Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) gained 0.07% or 0.01 points to 15.01.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 50 to 30 and 21 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.56% or 0.78 to $50.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 1.76% or 0.98 to hit $56.78 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 2.05 to trade at $1274.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.24% to 419.910, while USD/NGN rose 1.83% to 361.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 93.76.
