Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 1.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO), which rose 1.24% or 0.19 points to trade at 15.46 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) added 0.28% or 0.070 points to end at 25.415 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) was up 0.17% or 0.04 points to 20.16 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which lost 4.72% or 1.15 points to trade at 23.23 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 4.04% or 3.280 points to end at 77.960 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) shed 3.45% or 0.156 points to 4.370.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 106 to 22 and 6 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 19.23% to 13.43.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.99% or 0.48 to $49.14 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.18% or 0.61 to hit $52.26 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 1.71% or 21.19 to trade at $1257.59 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.1141, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8602.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.58% at 97.53.
