Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Financials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 3.83% or 0.163 points to trade at 4.420 at the close. NN Group (AS:NN) added 1.76% or 0.52 points to end at 30.02 and Randstad (AS:RAND) was up 0.49% or 0.23 points to 48.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN), which lost 2.44% or 0.81 points to trade at 32.55 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:ING) declined 1.88% or 0.215 points to end at 11.195 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) shed 1.61% or 0.36 points to 21.96.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 99 to 64 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 5.95% to 19.90.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.26% or 0.62 to $49.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.87% or 0.44 to hit $50.80 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.07% or 0.85 to trade at $1217.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.05% to 1.1145, while EUR/GBP rose 0.91% to 0.7678.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 95.72.
