Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Heineken (AS:HEIN), which rose 1.24% or 0.97 points to trade at 79.27 at the close. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) added 0.96% or 0.19 points to end at 19.99 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was up 0.82% or 0.64 points to 78.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 4.87% or 0.389 points to trade at 7.598 in late trade. Aegon (AS:AEGN) declined 2.32% or 0.113 points to end at 4.754 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) shed 1.54% or 0.77 points to 49.22.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 31 and 16 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 6.12% to 14.14.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.75% or 0.36 to $47.61 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.22% or 0.11 to hit $50.81 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.50% or 6.25 to trade at $1254.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.69% to 1.0873, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8651.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.65% at 98.94.
