Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Consumer Services and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 3.10% or 0.565 points to trade at 18.770 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 2.27% or 1.570 points to end at 70.720 and Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) was up 1.27% or 0.038 points to 3.029 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG), which lost 1.24% or 0.41 points to trade at 32.76 in late trade. Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) declined 1.21% or 0.52 points to end at 42.31 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) shed 1.08% or 0.85 points to 77.59.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 65 to 54 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.26% to 12.20 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.58% or 0.67 to $43.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.78% or 0.80 to hit $45.62 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.53% or 6.64 to trade at $1252.44 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1152, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8803.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 97.26.
