Netherlands shares lower at close of trade; AEX down 0.45%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.45%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 0.89% or 0.08 points to trade at 8.75 at the close. Gemalto (AS:GTO) added 0.20% or 0.10 points to end at 49.50 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) was up 0.04% or 0.010 points to 27.785 in late trade.

Biggest losers included SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO), which lost 1.91% or 0.28 points to trade at 14.67 in late trade. Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) declined 1.78% or 1.44 points to end at 79.67 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) shed 0.86% or 0.63 points to 73.02.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 61 to 58 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.86% to 12.08.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.90% or 0.54 to $60.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.07% or 0.71 to hit $66.87 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.76% or 9.80 to trade at $1307.00 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.69% to 1.2024, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.8885.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.57% at 91.81.
