Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 3.06% or 1.40 points to trade at 47.00 at the close. Relx NV (AS:RELN) added 1.14% or 0.220 points to end at 19.445 and Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) was up 0.95% or 0.76 points to 80.84 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 7.83% or 0.69 points to trade at 8.14 in late trade. SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO) declined 1.49% or 0.22 points to end at 14.59 and Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) shed 1.46% or 0.043 points to 2.898.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 72 to 49 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 5.35% to 10.58.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.65% or 0.37 to $56.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.25% or 0.79 to hit $62.55 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.60% or 7.40 to trade at $1249.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1766, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8808.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 93.86.
