Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.31% or 1.220 points to trade at 94.400 at the close. Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) added 1.08% or 0.40 points to end at 37.10 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) was up 0.98% or 0.90 points to 92.32 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 4.96% or 0.15 points to trade at 2.84 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 1.71% or 0.455 points to end at 26.200 and Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) shed 1.31% or 0.29 points to 21.86.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 59 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.66% to 12.05.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.47% or 1.01 to $69.53 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.87% or 0.64 to hit $74.08 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.30% or 3.70 to trade at $1229.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.1679, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8883.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 94.32.
