Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Financials and Support Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Akzo Nobel (AMS:AKZO), which rose 3.67% or 2.52 points to trade at 71.12 at the close. Randstad (AMS:RAND) added 3.49% or 1.90 points to end at 56.27 and Gemalto (AMS:GTO) was up 3.40% or 2.48 points to 75.67 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vopak (AMS:VOPA), which lost 0.24% or 0.12 points to trade at 50.95 in late trade. KPN Kon (AMS:KPN) added 0.52% or 0.02 points to end at 3.282 and Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) gained 0.60% or 0.05 points to 8.86.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 218 to 33 and 6 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 5.58% to 18.16.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.08% or 0.53 to $48.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.50% or 0.84 to hit $55.56 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.33% or 16.00 to trade at $1184.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.61% to 1.0824, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.7308.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.66% at 98.26.
