Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Technology and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.67% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO), which rose 4.68% or 3.41 points to trade at 76.20 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 4.37% or 0.90 points to end at 21.39 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 2.67% or 1.890 points to 72.570 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP), which lost 1.91% or 4.15 points to trade at 213.25 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) declined 1.83% or 0.147 points to end at 7.888 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) shed 1.39% or 0.235 points to 16.645.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 74 to 53 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.97% to 9.98.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.06% or 0.52 to $48.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.11% or 0.58 to hit $51.61 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.27% or 3.25 to trade at $1199.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.88% to 1.0669, while EUR/GBP rose 0.91% to 0.8772.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.55% at 101.42.
