Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 2.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.84% or 2.300 points to trade at 83.200 at the close. Unilever NV DRC (AS:UNc) added 1.33% or 0.58 points to end at 44.74 and ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) was up 1.29% or 2.15 points to 169.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV (AS:BOSN), which lost 2.23% or 0.60 points to trade at 26.28 in late trade. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) declined 1.04% or 2.00 points to end at 190.75 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) shed 0.98% or 0.08 points to 7.87.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 61 to 55 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 9.89% to 12.72 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 2.84% or 1.71 to $61.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 2.53% or 1.61 to hit $65.22 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.23% or 3.00 to trade at $1324.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.2323, while EUR/GBP fell 0.26% to 0.8893.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 90.02.
