Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 1.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 4.13% or 0.08 points to trade at 2.07 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 3.46% or 3.140 points to end at 94.020 and Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) was up 3.23% or 1.03 points to 33.03 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which added 0.04% or 0.02 points to trade at 50.78 in late trade. Akzo Nobel NV (AS:AKZO) added 1.02% or 0.72 points to end at 71.38 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) gained 1.04% or 0.270 points to 26.140.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 108 to 22 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 6.30% to 18.37.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.93% or 0.48 to $52.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.08% or 0.65 to hit $60.85 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.19% or 2.35 to trade at $1249.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1363, while EUR/GBP fell 0.82% to 0.8989.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 97.037.
