Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which rose 3.55% or 5.06 points to trade at 147.52 at the close. Randstad NV (AS:RAND) added 3.12% or 1.29 points to end at 42.61 and Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) was up 2.87% or 0.59 points to 21.14 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 4.40% or 3.960 points to trade at 86.040 in late trade. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 2.66% or 0.06 points to end at 2.05 and ASR Nederland NV (AS:ASRNL) shed 1.58% or 0.62 points to 38.66.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 60 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.07% to 19.46 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.69% or 0.46 to $67.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.50% or 0.38 to hit $76.55 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.34% or 4.20 to trade at $1232.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1372, while EUR/GBP rose 0.31% to 0.8870.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 96.41.
