Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.68% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 12.36% or 0.97 points to trade at 8.84 at the close. Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) added 2.80% or 0.69 points to end at 25.30 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.97% or 1.600 points to 82.680 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which lost 1.82% or 0.360 points to trade at 19.444 in late trade. ASR Nederland NV (AS:ASRNL) declined 1.25% or 0.48 points to end at 38.00 and Aalberts Industries NV (AS:AALB) shed 1.04% or 0.44 points to 41.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 52 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.26% to 11.26.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.25% or 0.18 to $71.67 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.86% or 0.68 to hit $79.96 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.09% or 1.10 to trade at $1290.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.1808, while EUR/GBP fell 0.27% to 0.8730.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 93.30.
