Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Healthcare and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which rose 4.83% or 0.95 points to trade at 20.62 at the close. ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) added 3.59% or 4.88 points to end at 141.00 and Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) was up 2.67% or 1.96 points to 75.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Relx PLC (AS:REL), which lost 1.39% or 0.255 points to trade at 18.070 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 1.19% or 0.118 points to end at 9.821 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) shed 0.97% or 0.02 points to 1.83.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 87 to 48 and 4 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.97% to 17.97.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 4.42% or 2.20 to $51.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 3.97% or 2.33 to hit $61.05 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.26% or 3.30 to trade at $1289.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.78% to 1.1529, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.9029.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.62% at 94.887.
