Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Randstad NV (AS:RAND), which rose 3.33% or 1.30 points to trade at 40.31 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) added 3.16% or 4.34 points to end at 141.66 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 3.01% or 2.640 points to 90.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which lost 4.28% or 0.88 points to trade at 19.67 in late trade. Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) declined 1.92% or 0.049 points to end at 2.503 and ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) shed 0.67% or 0.92 points to 136.12.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 83 to 52 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.39% to 18.15.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 2.49% or 1.21 to $49.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 2.23% or 1.28 to hit $58.61 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.22% or 2.90 to trade at $1287.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.19% to 1.1452, while EUR/GBP rose 0.31% to 0.9004.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 95.438.
