Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which rose 5.65% or 0.592 points to trade at 11.072 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 2.93% or 2.660 points to end at 93.360 and Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) was up 2.43% or 0.53 points to 22.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa), which lost 1.97% or 0.555 points to trade at 27.605 in late trade. Randstad NV (AS:RAND) declined 1.91% or 0.85 points to end at 43.70 and Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) shed 1.83% or 0.92 points to 49.24.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 80 to 47 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 6.63% to 16.58.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 2.85% or 1.86 to $63.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 3.43% or 2.59 to hit $72.88 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.86% or 22.50 to trade at $1234.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.73% to 1.1395, while EUR/GBP fell 1.06% to 0.8784.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.72% at 96.20.
