Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.36% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Unilever NV DRC (AS:UNc), which rose 2.43% or 1.16 points to trade at 48.87 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 2.07% or 1.820 points to end at 89.740 and ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) was up 1.60% or 0.35 points to 22.28 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 3.44% or 0.11 points to trade at 2.97 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 3.00% or 0.795 points to end at 25.690 and Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) shed 2.61% or 0.60 points to 22.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 61 to 59 and 18 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 5.75% to 11.66.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.12% or 0.08 to $67.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.67% or 0.49 to hit $72.41 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.92% or 11.30 to trade at $1216.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1607, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.8936.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 95.23.
