Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.26% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which rose 2.08% or 13.80 points to trade at 677.90 at the close. BE Semiconductor Industries NV (AS:BESI) added 1.75% or 2.00 points to end at 116.00 and Shell PLC (AS:SHEL) was up 1.64% or 0.50 points to 31.04 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NN Group NV (AS:NN), which lost 2.31% or 1.01 points to trade at 42.63 in late trade. Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) declined 1.91% or 0.49 points to end at 25.11 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) shed 1.08% or 0.76 points to 69.88.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 59 to 47 and 3 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 3.01% or 2.05 to $70.15 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 2.66% or 1.91 to hit $73.74 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.42% or 11.21 to trade at $2,669.71 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.20% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 106.22.
