Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Industrials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Aegon NV (AS:AEGN), which rose 2.00% or 0.116 points to trade at 5.926 at the close. Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) added 1.82% or 1.56 points to end at 87.28 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) was up 1.32% or 0.400 points to 30.620 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which lost 2.48% or 0.65 points to trade at 25.54 in late trade. Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) declined 2.39% or 0.060 points to end at 2.447 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) shed 0.98% or 0.300 points to 30.175.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 62 to 60 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.47% to 11.07.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.14% or 0.10 to $70.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.86% or 0.67 to hit $78.90 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 1.97% or 26.00 to trade at $1292.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.45% to 1.1873, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.8781.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 92.94.
