Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.12% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which rose 2.04% or 0.390 points to trade at 19.490 at the close. Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) added 2.01% or 0.051 points to end at 2.594 and ASR Nederland NV (AS:ASRNL) was up 1.39% or 0.54 points to 39.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which lost 1.86% or 0.50 points to trade at 26.43 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) declined 1.49% or 0.440 points to end at 29.145 and Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) shed 0.92% or 0.38 points to 41.13.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 60 to 56 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 4.11% to 11.78.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 2.84% or 2.01 to $68.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 2.28% or 1.74 to hit $74.43 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.04% or 0.50 to trade at $1314.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.32% to 1.1885, while EUR/GBP fell 0.31% to 0.8768.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 92.83.
