Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Media, Construction & Materials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were KPN Kon (AMS:KPN), which rose 2.03% or 0.062 points to trade at 3.119 at the close. Wolters Kluwer (AMS:WLSNc) added 2.02% or 0.61 points to end at 31.11 and Reed Elsevier (AMS:ELSN) was up 1.78% or 0.415 points to 23.685 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice SA (AMS:ATCE), which lost 1.61% or 1.60 points to trade at 97.95 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa) declined 1.17% or 0.34 points to end at 28.36 and Randstad (AMS:RAND) shed 0.49% or 0.28 points to 56.35.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 176 to 82 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 7.94% to 16.36.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.59% or 0.28 to $47.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.15% or 0.65 to hit $55.27 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.31% or 3.70 to trade at $1191.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.0919, while EUR/GBP rose 0.35% to 0.7346.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 97.42.
