Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Materials, Financial Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC declined 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA), which rose 3.16% or 0.95 points to trade at 31.01 at the close. Nemak SAB de CV (MX:NEMAKA) added 2.20% or 0.41 points to end at 19.02 and Gruma SAB de CV (MX:GRUMAB) was up 1.39% or 3.580 points to 260.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES), which lost 5.08% or 21.850 points to trade at 408.390 in late trade. Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO) declined 2.41% or 0.410 points to end at 16.630 and Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEX) shed 2.23% or 0.860 points to 37.780.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 149 to 119 and 4 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 2.90% or 33.70 to $1130.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $51.06 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $54.20 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.05% to 20.3479, while EUR/MXN rose 0.12% to 21.2001.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.10% at 103.15.
