Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were El Puerto De Liverpool Sab De CV (MX:LIVEPOLC1), which rose 2.00% or 2.51 points to trade at 127.89 at the close. Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico SAB De CV (MX:SANMEXB) added 1.83% or 0.520 points to end at 28.930 and Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX:TLVACPO) was up 0.97% or 0.71 points to 73.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES), which lost 4.11% or 16.66 points to trade at 389.09 in late trade. Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:BIMBOA) declined 2.44% or 1.070 points to end at 42.750 and Gruma SAB de CV (MX:GRUMAB) shed 2.38% or 5.95 points to 243.83.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 161 to 152 and 12 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.06% or 0.70 to $1264.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.82% or 0.47 to hit $57.69 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $63.84 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.02% to 19.2125, while EUR/MXN fell 0.01% to 22.7448.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 93.05.
