Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 1.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (BMV:TLEVISACPO), which rose 4.63% or 0.35 points to trade at 7.91 at the close. Promotora y Operadora de Infraestructura SAB de CV (BMV:PINFRA) added 3.56% or 6.36 points to end at 184.95 and Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA) was up 3.46% or 0.82 points to 24.52 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO), which lost 2.21% or 0.50 points to trade at 22.12 in late trade. Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ELEKTRA) declined 1.79% or 5.65 points to end at 310.00 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (BMV:GFNORTEO) shed 1.53% or 2.19 points to 140.75.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 114 to 108 and 16 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.66% or 17.59 to $2,664.99 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.98% or 0.72 to hit $74.28 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.00% or 0.76 to trade at $77.06 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.05% to 20.31, while EUR/MXN fell 0.40% to 21.01.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 108.50.
