Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Industrials and Consumer Goods & Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 0.94% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Comercial Chedraui, SAB De CV (BMV:CHDRAUIB), which rose 4.29% or 5.55 points to trade at 134.88 at the close. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GCARSOA1) added 4.28% or 5.50 points to end at 134.08 and Promotora y Operadora de Infraestructura SAB de CV (BMV:PINFRA) was up 3.85% or 6.46 points to 174.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB), which lost 1.85% or 0.35 points to trade at 18.53 in late trade. America Movil SAB de CV M (BMV:AMXB) declined 1.76% or 0.29 points to end at 16.22 and Corporacion Inmobiliaria Vesta SAB (BMV:VESTA) shed 0.88% or 0.51 points to 57.13.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 145 to 76 and 18 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.22% or 5.25 to $2,416.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.40% or 0.33 to hit $82.29 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.37% or 0.32 to trade at $85.08 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.88% to 17.61, while EUR/MXN fell 0.57% to 19.21.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 103.78.
