Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Industrials and Consumer Goods & Services sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 0.72%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX:OMAB), which rose 4.55% or 4.150 points to trade at 95.390 at the close. Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (MX:GAPB) added 3.42% or 5.32 points to end at 161.01 and Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB) was up 3.20% or 0.64 points to 20.65 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM), which lost 2.57% or 1.290 points to trade at 48.870 in late trade. Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO) declined 2.52% or 2.400 points to end at 92.990 and Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX:TLVACPO) shed 1.46% or 0.74 points to 49.88.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 195 to 102 and 6 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.62% or 7.80 to $1264.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 4.05% or 1.95 to hit $46.22 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 4.32% or 2.47 to trade at $54.77 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 1.13% to 19.8886, while EUR/MXN fell 0.42% to 22.7853.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.67% at 95.833.
