Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services, Telecoms Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (MX:FMSAUBD), which rose 2.68% or 4.65 points to trade at 178.22 at the close. Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico SAB De CV (MX:SANMEXB) added 1.28% or 0.450 points to end at 35.690 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO) was up 1.27% or 1.590 points to 126.890 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Becle SA (MX:CUERVO), which lost 2.27% or 0.700 points to trade at 30.170 in late trade. Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) declined 2.23% or 0.400 points to end at 17.550 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) shed 2.01% or 9.10 points to 444.03.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 148 to 89 and 8 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.61% or 21.19 to $1295.21 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $50.72 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.19 to trade at $56.48 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.67% to 17.8894, while EUR/MXN rose 1.10% to 21.3649.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 91.98.
