Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Metals and Green Energy sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.07%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA), which rose 2.30% or 1.80 points to trade at 80.10 at the close. Tech Mahindra Limited (NS:TEML) added 2.12% or 9.00 points to end at 434.00 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (NS:TTPW) was up 1.89% or 1.55 points to 83.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:AXBK), which lost 2.69% or 14.55 points to trade at 525.50 in late trade. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) declined 2.45% or 3.80 points to end at 151.45 and Ambuja Cements Ltd. (NS:ABUJ) shed 2.39% or 6.05 points to 247.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which rose 1.26% to 851.10, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 1.20% to settle at 2428.70 and HDFC Bank Ltd. (BO:HDBK) which gained 1.19% to close at 1270.35.
The worst performers were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 2.26% to 526.60 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 2.21% to settle at 1064.40 and Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which was down 2.07% to 582.75 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 757 to 748 and 47 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1430 rose and 1284 declined, while 238 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.36% to 13.8300.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.85 to $1265.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.45% or 0.23 to hit $50.86 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.64% or 0.33 to trade at $51.71 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 66.885, while EUR/INR fell 0.23% to 72.8710.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 98.49.
