Investing.com – Malaysia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrial Products, Technology and Trade & Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI declined 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were British American Tobacco (M) Bhd (KL:BATO), which rose 1.61% or 1.06 points to trade at 67.00 at the close. Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM) added 0.69% or 0.03 points to end at 4.38 and MISC Bhd (KL:MISC) was up 0.54% or 0.05 points to 9.37 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sapurakencana Petroleum Bhd (KL:SKPE), which lost 5.00% or 0.14 points to trade at 2.66 in late trade. Petronas Dagangan Bhd (KL:PETR) declined 2.41% or 0.54 points to end at 21.86 and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) shed 2.41% or 0.15 points to 6.08.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 251 to 232 and 39 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.55% or 0.32 to $56.74 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.39% or 0.26 to hit $64.39 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.72% or 8.70 to trade at $1205.20 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.38% to 2.6913, while USD/MYR rose 0.72% to 3.5581.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 96.03.
