Investing.com – Malaysia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Products, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI fell 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR), which rose 2.45% or 0.08 points to trade at 3.34 at the close. IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) added 2.42% or 0.11 points to end at 4.65 and YTL Corporation Bhd (KL:YTLS) was up 1.79% or 0.03 points to 1.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PPB Group Bhd (KL:PEPT), which lost 3.54% or 0.56 points to trade at 15.28 in late trade. UMW Holdings Bhd (KL:UMWS) declined 1.80% or 0.20 points to end at 10.94 and Telekom Malaysia Bhd (KL:TLMM) shed 1.07% or 0.08 points to 7.39.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 51 to 49 and 4 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 2.01% or 1.01 to $51.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 2.30% or 1.28 to hit $56.83 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.58% or 7.00 to trade at $1196.10 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.49% to 2.7102, while USD/MYR fell 0.03% to 3.6270.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.37% at 98.62.
