Investing.com – Malaysia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Plantation, Industrial Products and Trade & Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI gained 0.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Sapurakencana Petroleum Bhd (KL:SKPE), which rose 6.34% or 0.17 points to trade at 2.85 at the close. Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KL:KLKK) added 4.27% or 0.96 points to end at 23.42 and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) was up 4.19% or 0.25 points to 6.21 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB), which lost 0.98% or 0.06 points to trade at 6.09 in late trade. Genting Bhd (KL:GENT) declined 0.77% or 0.07 points to end at 9.08 and Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR) shed 0.61% or 0.02 points to 3.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 66 to 37 and 1 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.28% or 0.16 to $57.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.86% or 0.56 to hit $65.41 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.26% or 3.10 to trade at $1191.20 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.29% to 2.6772, while USD/MYR fell 0.64% to 3.5792.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 97.19.
