Investing.com – Malaysia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrials, Trade & Services and Consumer Products sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI rose 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Sapurakencana Petroleum Bhd (KL:SKPE), which rose 3.00% or 0.07 points to trade at 2.40 at the close. Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR) added 2.37% or 0.07 points to end at 3.02 and Sime Darby Bhd (KL:SIME) was up 2.14% or 0.18 points to 8.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB), which lost 1.70% or 0.09 points to trade at 5.20 in late trade. Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM) declined 1.19% or 0.05 points to end at 4.15 and IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) shed 1.18% or 0.05 points to 4.18.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 296 to 259 and 46 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.19% or 0.10 to $48.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.78% or 0.41 to hit $53.80 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.71% or 7.80 to trade at $1085.50 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.07% to 2.7841, while USD/MYR rose 0.25% to 3.8233.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 97.34.
